Ishaq Dar leaves for US to hold talks with IMF, WB

Finance Minister (FM) Ishaq Dar has left for US to hold talks with International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB).

Talks will also be held with WB officials on funds and other matters.

Pakistan will file application formally seeking review of micro economic framework for the financial year 2022-23. Request will be made for relaxation of the budget deficit and current account deficit targets

According to a senior Pakistani official IMF will also be requested to soften the conditions related to EFF. This includes freezing the petroleum levy and Electricity Fuel price Adjustment.

The request for reviewing microeconomic framework will be made in the wake of devastating floods this year. Over 30 billion dollars are required on account of construction cost by our national economy suffering from woes.
