ECP issues notices to PTI’s ministers

By-polls code violation
PESHAWAR
The provincial minister for food, science and information technology Atif Khan and minister for education Shahram Khan Tarakai have been issued notices by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for violating code of conduct for the by-polls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The district monitoring officer of Mardan served notices to the both ministers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for taking part in a public meeting held in NA-22 Mardan on Thursday.
The public meeting was addressed by PTI chairman Imran and attended by the provincial ministers. In the notices, the district monitoring officer for the above-mentioned constituency directed them to appear before him or send in counsel in his office on October 15.
The code of conduct’s Para No 17(B) said the public office holders, including the president, prime minister, Senate chairman and deputy chairman, speaker and deputy speaker of any of the assemblies, federal ministers, ministers of state, governor, chief minister, provincial ministers, and advisors to the prime minister and chief minister, should not attend public meeting of any of the contesting candidates, it added.
It is to note here that the provincial election commission had directed the provincial governemnt’s functionaries not to attend the scheduled rally of PTI chairman Imran Khan in district Mardan as it would be a violation of the by-election code of conduct for the by-polls in KP.
