Inter-colleges sports competition to be started soon: Atif Khan

An important meeting held here on Monday with the provincial minister for sports and youth Atif Khan in the chair, reviewed progress so far made on different projects.
The forum also discussed the necessary preparations for organizing a mega inter-colleges sports competition in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The meeting was attended by additional secretary sports and youth department, director general and other relevant officials.
The forum was informed that the department concerned has finalized all necessary preparations to organize a youth carnival and an inter-colleges sports competition.
On this occasion Atif Khan said that the provincial government was taking pragmatic steps to encourage sports activities as part of student’s extra-co curium.
He instructed the quarter concerned to finalize the preparations for organizing inter-colleges sports completion.
The provincial minister Atif Khan reviewed the overall progress on different ongoing the projects under the sports and youth department.
The meeting was informed that under the youth carnival, the hidden talents of the youth and students will be revealed at the grassroots level in the educational institutions, especially the public sector institutions. The youth competition among the different government colleges will consist of institutional trials, divisional level competitions and in the final stage provincial level competitions.
After the trials in the higher educational institutions, the institutions will send their best team for the competition at the divisional level, while on the basis of the best performance, 30 best institutions will be selected at the divisional level.
It should be noted that citizens from 15 to 29 years can also register themselves to participate in these competitions.
Atif Khan said that the main objective of youth renewals is to provide a platform to the youth and students where they can present their hidden talents and creative skills to the world.
The sports department will ask the higher education institutions to start the process of trials for various extra-curricular activities in their respective campuses to bring out the best talent in this regard.
Under the youth carnivals, quiz and recitation competitions, sketching and painting competitions, song competitions in Urdu, Pashto and regional languages will be organized at the divisional and district level, apart from other cultural activities.
