Concert steps required to empower police: ANP

The provincial president of Amil Wali Khan on Tuesday criticized the provincial government for allegedly failing to control the rising incidence of terrorism, adding that government should take concert steps to empower police to combat terrorism and maintain law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In a statement, Aimal Wali Khan maintained that the police of the province was the only force that had no strategic goals beyond the restoration of law and order.
He said that the provincial government has crippled the power of police department and have left them to be attacked by the terrorists.
“The police are kept powerless and are also kept under the constant target of terrorists. The police are being attacked with American weapons,” he added.
Aimal Wali Khan added that no action was taken against those elements involved in the killing of martyred SP Tahir Dawar, he said that it has been four years since the martyrdom of SP Tahir Dawar and even today the police are being continuously attacked with modern weapons.
He alleged the provincial government for its alleged hostility towards Pashtuns, adding that the Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) government failed to identify the killer behind the gruesome killing of a police officer.
