PESHAWAR
A delegation led by American Consulate General Panfelo Marquez on Tuesday called on provincial minister for labor and parliamentary affairs Shaukat Yousifzai.
The meeting discussed in detail matters related to regional sports, culture activities and long-lasting problems being faced by the artist’s community in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to an official statement, the meeting was also attended by William Ostic, Minister Council Public Affairs and Monica Davis Public Affairs Officer.
The delegation has shown interest to organize regional sports, musical events and financial support including Fulbright scholarships for artists of the province.
He reiterated his support and cooperation regarding the organization of cultural activities for the youth, they desired to digitize the Peshawar Museum and the preservation and exchange of cultural heritage in the province.
Shaukat Yousafzai while appreciating their efforts on this occasion said that along with the entertainment activities in this region being affected due to terrorism, the artists have fled abroad or many of them have quit the field.
US Consulate General on this occasion reiterated full cooperation for the revival of sports and culture and regional cultural activities in the province.
The provincial minister said that our artists have the best talent, but due to the fear of terrorism, they shifted to other countries.
Officials of the American Consulate requested the provincial government to seek proposals for priority projects on which they would provide financial support and assistance.
He said that by paying attention to the traditional dance, food, dress and sports here, the people can get recreational activities back.
The delegation informed the minister about the visit of the American Ambassador to KP, adding that he would pay a visit to the province very soon.
