Haji Adeel remembered on 6th death anniversary

The president Awami National Party (ANP) Asfandyar Wali Khan on Friday said that Late ANP leader Haji Muhammad Adeel would be always remembered for his unmatched struggle for the rights of province. ANP chief expressed these views on the sixth death anniversary of Haji Muhammad Adeel, said a statement issued from party headquarters Bacha Khan Markaz. “Haji Adeel had played a key role in 7th NFC Award, arrears of net hydel profit and 18th amendment,” he added. Asfandyar Wali Khan said “his principled stance on national issues and his unprecedented contributions to strengthen democracy in the country would be remembered for a long time”.
Adeel, who belonged to a prominent Hindko speaking family of Peshawar, was born on October 25, 1944.
His father Hakim Abdul Jaleel Nadvi was a freedom fighter associated with the all India National Congress Party, following which he became an active member of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan alias Bacha Khan’s Khudai Khidmatgar movement.
Being familiar with business and economic matters of the country, Adeel served as finance minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 1993.
He was elected thrice in the provincial assembly and served as deputy speaker of the K-P assembly from 1997-1999.
He was one of the longest serving senators, who served office from 2009 to 2015.
The party nominated him for senate when he was 66-years-old.
As a staunch nationalist, he has forcefully raised the issue of renaming the erstwhile NWFP as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Haji Mohammad Adil died on Nov 18, 2016 in Peshawar.
