Weapons smuggling bid foiled, two held

Police on Tuesday seized a large cache of unlicensed automatic weapons and arrested two persons.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Rural Tariq Mahmood Khan told reporters the Shahpur police during checking on H-Chwak on Northern bypass foiled an attempt to smuggle unlicensed weapons and ammunition.
He said that the arrested persons have smuggled weapons from Dara Adam Khel to Peshawar and they were trying to smuggle them to other parts of the province but were busted by the police.
The arrested persons have been identified as Shahzaib and Bawar Khan residents of Peshawar and Dara Adam Khel.
Police after receiving information from credible sources launched strict checking and recovered 59 different types of automatic weapons from a vehicle. Police have also seized vehicles used for the crime and registered cases against the arrested persons.
The checking was conducted under the supervision of Abdul Ali Khan and other police officers.
Police investigation said that the recovered arms and ammunition were likely to be used for various crimes.
