KP’s drugs directorate conducted 16833 inspections in 2022

The directorate of drugs and pharmacy services, operating under the provincial health department, on Wednesday released its annual report for 2022 which claimed that the wing has conducted around 16833 inspections of medical stores/distributor outlets in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
It said that during the same period of time, 2336 cases of various drugs and medical devices were registered against the violators and the stock was confiscated.
“A total of 11797 samples of suspicious drugs were obtained from various medical stores and hospitals to check the quality of drugs from medical stores, out of which 702 samples did meet the standard of the health department,” the report added.
Out of 11979 drug samples, 102 drug samples were declared fake and the officials registered cases and a huge cache of medicine stock was confiscated it said.
The report said that 292 medical stores/distributions in the province were sealed in different operations while the wing registered 78 First Information Reports (FIRs) under the Drug Act 1976 and KP Drug Rules as cognizable offences.
The annual report for 2022 said that 2578 cases have been referred to Court/Board for judicial trial. The Drug Court Khyber Pakhtunkhwa decided 312 cases in which 7 million fines and sentences were imposed.
The Special Task Force conducted raids in the province and seized a number of fake factories, warehouses and carrier vehicles, recovering a stock of more than Rs300 million equivalents to 30kg.
Directorate general drug control and pharmacy services in 2022 has resolved 2700 plus citizen portal complaints for immediate redressal of citizens’ grievances.
Online e-Drug Sale License is the flagship project of the directorate where all applicants, bank challan, pharmacy council , drug inspectors are linked as one window operation system.
The directorate during the 2022 claimed to have collected around Rs 38.8 million revenue in the from license fees.
