We will not accept the privatization of profitable institutions at any cost and will not allow privatization of recovery including feeders.
These views were expressed by Zonal Chairman Muhammad Zubair Musa Khel, Zonal Secretary Azizul Islam, Haji Muhammad Qasim, Salman Ali, Zahidnawaz and Riaz while addressing a protest against the privatization of electricity companies in Mardan Circle. Hundreds of employees of All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Workers Union participated in the peotest.
The speakers said that in the electricity companies thousands of working employees have sacrificed their lives and cultivated this system with their blood.
The speakers said that by reforming the electricity companies, by improving the infrastructure, by making the electricity cheaper, give relief to the people and not to the capitalists and contractors.
Speaker said that selling it, which will be a complete injustice to the country and the people, because the people have already been crushed by the inflation mill.
The speakers said that Wapda Hydro Union will raise its voice against this injustice on every forum and the will stand against wrong decisions of the government. The speakers demanded that the privatization of electricity companies should be stopped immediately and WAPDA employees should be recruited unconditionally on the quota including meeting the shortage of 75% staff. Accidents should be avoided by providing standard equipment and tools to the line staff. If our demands are not followed, we will be forced to take any action, the responsibility of which will be on the government.
