Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Haji Ghulam Ali said on Tuesday the country could not afford three elections – elections of provincial assemblies, NA by-polls, and general elections – in a row due to the economic woes.
Speaking to the media, Mr Ali deplored the incident of terrorism in Peshawar, saying the terrorists were standing against the country and its people. Mr Ali said, “It was almost confirmed that the incident was a suicide attack.”.
Speaking about the elections in the province, Mr Ali stated that the elections would be held in accordance with the constitution. He stressed the need for giving the dates for elections by consensus, adding that the efforts should be made to create a situation of dialogue among all the stakeholders – political parties, the ECP, and law-enforcement agencies.
