Residents of Landi Kotal forcibly shut down all feeders in protest against power off here on Saturday.
It is to be mentioned here that 20 feeders have been set up in the grid station and out of it 15 feeders supply electricity to civil population and the rest of five feeders provide power to forces cantonment, administration block and headquarter hospital, Landi Kotal.
A protest rally of all political, social, counselors and common men of tribal society while carrying placards inscribed with slogans for provision of electricity was held in front of the grid station.
Speaking on the occasion those who led the protest including Shakir Afridi, Kaleemullah Shinwari, Azizullah Afridi, Ilyas Shinwari and others said that days back, the officials had promised to provide six hours electricity round the clock to the people although later on the former refused to materialize their pledge.
Until assurance of power supply as per agreement to the civilians, they would not be allowed to provide electricity to the government building, they opined.
They maintained that on the pretext of lack of electricity in national grid station, the locals were compelled for one or another reason to install electricity meters that were unacceptable to them.
Following failure of dialog between the protestors and concerned officials, the former forcibly shut down all the electric feeders to suspend power supply to the whole subdivision of Landi Kotal.
When the local grid station crew was contacted on the matter they said that they had been directed to supply four hours electricity to civilians in 24 hours and if the people wanted the additional power supply, they should discuss it with the high officials.
