ISLAMABAD: Shaban moon has been sighted in Pakistan and the first day of the month before Ramazan would fall on Wednesday. According to the details, the Shab-e-Barat would be observed on March 8 (Wednesday). The TV channel reported the crescent for Shaban was sighted in Punjab’s capital city Lahore and the Zonal Committee has forwarded the evidence in this regard to the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee where its chairman Abdul Khabeer Azad announced the sighting of the moon. The Zonal Committee’s meeting was chaired by Secretary Auqaf Punjab Dr Tahir Raza Bukhari while other committee members and representatives of Met Office attended the meeting. According to a statement released by the committee, a meeting chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad was held on the roof of the Pak Secretariat in Kohsar Block, while the meetings of the zonal committees were held in other cities. Syed Mushahid Hussain, Hafiz Abdul Quddus and representatives of the Meteorology Department and other committees also attended the meeting of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
