LAHORE
Lahore High Court (LHC) has fixed contempt of court plea against PML-N organizer Maryam Nawaz for hearing on March 06 for giving statement against the judiciary.
The contempt of court plea against Maryam Nawaz came up for hearing before single bench of LHC led by justice Shujaat Ali Khan Wednesday.
Rana Shahid advocate , the petitioner told the court Maryam Nawaz is senior vice president of her party and she has assumed the office of chief organizer of her party. While addressing party convention in Sargodha she gave statements against the judiciary.
He further said Maryam Nawaz tried to make superior judiciary controversial through her address. Her speech was live broadcast on electronic media and was printed in the news papers next day. Under the constitution statements can not be given against the judges of superior judiciary. It is requested to court to contempt of court proceedings be initiated against Maryam Nawaz for giving anti judiciary statements under article 204 of the constitution.
The court is requested to summon Maryam Nawaz and initiate proceedings against her as per law.
The court fixed March 6 for further hearing of the petition.
