Training workshop for DRC members held

A three-day training workshop on mediation, negotiation, communication, human rights, protection of constitution and laws for District Reconciliation Council (DRC) members of Mardan district concluded on Thursday.
United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Pakistan, and Sarhad Rural Support Program (SRSP), a non-governmental organization working in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for community empowerment, organized the workshop.
The training workshop was aimed to train DRCs members of the district Mardan on mediation, negotiation, communication, human rights, protection of constitution and laws, among others.
DRC Mardan Chairman Ehsanullah Bacha, Haji Alamzeb Khan, UNDP ADR Officer Salmi Bibi, training Coordinator Asif Khan, DSP Adnan Azam Khan and others attended the workshop.
At the end of the workshop, certificates were also distributed among the participants. On this occasion, the members of DRC Mardan were felicitated for handling record cases.
Addressing the participants, DSP Adnan Azam Khan said that with the establishment of DRC Mardan, the burden of different types of cases has been reduced not only on the police stations. Rather, the cases of rich and poor are being solved with ease and impartiality.
DRC Mardan Chairman Ehsanullah Bacha said that his council received 6,910 applications in the last seven years in which 6 thousand 761 disputes have been resolved.
The above-mentioned cases included recovery of over Rs 25 crore, property and other domestic disputes while only 79 cases are currently under hearing and 70 cases have been sent to court.
