PESHAWAR
Four people were killed in rain-related incidents in Mardan, Peshawar and South Waziristan as metropolis and other districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been witnessing heavy rainfall coupled with moderate winds and strong thunderstorms for two days.
According to a report issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) here on Saturday, two children were dead while two persons, including a woman, sustained critical injuries.
In Peshawar, one minor was dead and ten persons, including four children and a woman, were injured in rain related incidents.
Similarly, continuing rains badly affected electricity supply in South Waziristan and a woman died and five children were injured.
According to the report, all of the deaths occurred due to roof collapses caused by the heavy rains.
It said that one house was fully damaged while five others were damaged partially in the above-mentioned districts of the province.
Three cattle were also perished due to house damage incidents in district Mardan.
The PDMA has issued instructions to the district administrations to speed up relief and assistance operations in areas where rains have caused destruction.
