84 shopkeepers arrested for overcharging in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The district administration on Friday arrested 184 shopkeepers for selling essential edible items at exorbitant rate during the holy month of Ramadan, said a handout. During the operations, 594 shops were inspected and 184 shopkeepers were arrested for selling expensive goods, absence of official price list, low weight bread and poor hygiene conditions, while 111 shopkeepers were warned for further improvement. The district administration conducted raids in Charsadda Road, DalaZak Road, Hayatabad, Kohat Road, University Road, Board Bazar, Tehkal, Gulbahar, Inner City Bazars, Warsak Road and other areas of the provincial metropolis. The officers in the provincial capital issued official price lists in vegetable and fruit markets on a daily basis and later the official price lists were implemented throughout Peshawar.. DLP Report
