PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Emergency Rescue Service (Rescue 1122) observed International Firefighters Day to pay tributes to the services of the fire-fighters. In this connection, a function was organized in the Provincial Headquarters of the Rescue 1122 with Secretary Relief, Abdul Basit as chief guest here on Thursday. In his briefing to the participants of the function, the Director General (DG) Rescue 1122, Dr Khateer Ahmad said that firefighters are known and called as heroes across the world and in this connection special functions are being organized in all districts of the province. Highlighting the performance of the Rescue 1122, he said that the personnel of the organization have put their lives at risk during 265653 fire incidents to save the lives and properties of the people. He said that 5517 fire extinguishing incidents have occurred during the last one year in the province, saying that the Rescue 1122, whose all sections are performing outstanding duties, the fire extinguishing personnel have a special quality that instead of escape, run towards the fire.
