ISLAMABAD
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz has once again launched criticism against the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial, saying that the CJP ‘rewrote the Constitution for arbitrary decisions, misinterpreted Article 63A and misused suo motu powers.’
While addressing the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) sit-in at Constitution Avenue in Islamabad, Maryam Nawaz repeated the demand for the resignation of Chief Justice of Pakistan for the alleged misuse of his powers.
“A few facilitators are doing the murder of justice while sitting in the building in which justice was to be delivered,” said the daughter of ex-PM Nawaz Sharif. She described the public gathering as the ‘sea of people’. The sea of people has a volley of questions about the role of the top court,” she said, adding that the development and destruction of Pakistan is due to their decisions. She continued: “The powerful was to be arrested in this building. The persons sitting in the building have the responsibility to bring to book the terrorists. “Your job is to interpret the law, not to halt the judicial process,” she added.
Maryam took aim at the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the CJP. She said that they will not criticise those judges who always follow the Constitution and the law. She added that they will criticise those who illegally facilitated [former premier and PTI chief] Imran Khan.
She also accused CJP Bandial of rewriting the Constitution by claiming that Article 63-A was misinterpreted and the Punjab government was ‘served’ to Imran Khan on a plate despite knowing that the assembly would be dissolved.
She alleged that the SC should have strengthened the democracy but it clashed with the Parliament and a top judge allegedly remarked that he is happy after witnessing an accused in Rs60 billion corruption case instead of imposing strict penalties.
