Contempt of EC case: CEC issues bailable arrest warrants of Fawad Chaudhry

Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry did not appear in contempt of Election Commission (EC) case despite being summoned.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) while issuing bailable arrest warrants of Fawad Chaudhry has ordered him to appear in person on July 06.

The contempt of EC case against Fawad Chaudhry came up for hearing before a 5-member bench of EC presided over by CEC Sikandar Sultan Raja Wednesday. Fawad Chaudhry did not appear despite being summoned.

Counsel for Fawad Chaudhry appeared before EC and requested for adjourning the hearing.

The counsel said IHC has reserved judgment on this case.

CEC said decision has been announced on the matter of election commission show cause notice. We had summoned Fawad Chaudhry in person today. Fawad Chaudhry has not filed reply so far.

The EC while directing Fawad Chaudhry to appear before it in person issued his bailable arrest warrants besides adjourning the hearing of the case till JULY 06.
