Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Para Table Tennis International medalist Altaf-ur-Rehman met with Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif during PM Initiative for Sports Program in Islamabad recently.
According to details given by Altaf-ur-Rehman, a program of PM Initiative for Sports was organized in Islamabad in which the Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shahbad Sharif graced the occasion as chief guest.
International Para-Table Tennis medalist Altaf-ur-Rehman from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was invited in this program due to his excellent performance when he won a bronze medal in the Wheelchair Table Tennis in World Islamic Games in Turkey.
During the program, this talented medalist from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during his meeting with the Prime Minister gave him details of his performance and also thanked the Pakistan Sports Department, NPC and Friends of Paraplegics for their support.
Apart from this, he also informed him about the step mother attitude of the Directorate General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who did not extend any support to Altaf-ur-Rehman during his visit to the World Games. He was rewarded and encouraged twice by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, but he did not receive any recognition in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and even when he goes to the sports department, he has to wait for hours in the office and for international tours.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif highly appreciated the performance of Altaf-ur-Rehman in sports, and also expressed his surprise at the injustice and treatment to superstars like Altaf. Altaf-ur-Rehman said that he would continue his hard work to make the name of the province and country high at international level.
The Prime Minister assured him that he would be supported at all levels so he and other players like him would achieve name and fame for the motherland. Altaf-ur-Rehman said that by supporting players like me and others we would get a chance to excel at the national and international levels.
