SSP Operations Haroon Rashid Khan on Friday conducted an inspection of routes of mourning procession and Imambargahs. The inspection included two major routes in the Peshawar City to ensure security measures were in place.
SSP Operations Peshawar was accompanied by SP Security Atiq Shah, SP City Abdul Salam Khalid, and other police officers.
During the visit, he interacted with police officers on duty and issued special instructions for security measures. He directed police personnel to strictly implement the security plan and to use jackets and helmets.
Haroon Rahid told reporters that expert snipers have been deployed at plug-in points, rooftops and high-rise buildings on all routes as police force of the provincial capital has devised a three -layer security arrangements for the security of Muharram’s processions.
All routes leading to congregations and Imambargahs have been provided with foolproof security, he said and added that a comprehensive surveillance of procession routes, Imambargahs, other religious places of worship and sensitive places through CCTV cameras is underway.
He maintained that RRF, ATS, QRF, Ladies Police, BDU, Ababil Squad, and City Patrol Force have been deployed in Peshawar and armored vehicles have also been provided for the security of the routes.
SSP Operations directed them to remain vigilant and alert during their duty to keep a close watch on suspicious activities.
Police high-ups also reviewed the routes of the mourning procession through the CCTV cameras in the control room.
