PESHAWAR
An important meeting of Provincial Council for Social Welfare (PCSW) held here on Wednesday with Special Assistant to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Zakat, Ushr, Social Welfare, Special Education and Women Empowerment Salma Begum in chair, in which the forum was informed about ongoing activities of the council and discussed various agendas.
The meeting was attended by the PCSW members including members of the Board of Revenue, Additional Secretary Home & Tribal Affairs, Section Officer Finance department and others.
The chair was given a special briefing about the ongoing activities of the council in the province.
Regularization of PCSW employees /staff, approval of the council budget for the current financial year 2023-24, approval of Disparity Reduction Allowance (DRA) to the council employees/staff and others were the main agenda for discussion.
The meeting was told that the PCWS has been working for the welfare, development and empowerment of the community through Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (VSWAs). The council has entertained thousands of applications of VSWAs by provision of financial aid/grant-in-aid out of PCSW funds since its establishment up till date.
Discussing the regularization of the council employees, it is said that the staff of the said council are working purely on temporary basis since their date of appointment and have no other back benefits of promotion, GP & CP Fund, Pension and other allowances.
It is requested to restore the status of the existing staff of PCSW as regular Government Servant from the date of their appointment. After thorough discussion, the members agreed that PCSW staff will be regularized after act approval of the KP assembly.
Similarly, the council annual budget for the financial year 2023-24 also discussed and the members unanimously approved the budget.
The council members also unanimously accorded approval of DRA to all the council staff and employees. It is also decided in the meeting that funds will be released to those local non- governmental organizations which are working in different sectors of social welfare and which fulfilled the criteria for the funds.
