PESHAWAR: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday issued a notice to caretaker provincial minister for housing Shafiullah Khan, seeking his reply for his alleged violation of the local government by-election code. The notice has been issued by the district returning officer of Upper Dir on the complaint of the general secretary of Jamat-e-Islami (JI). The electoral watchdog has sought a reply from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial caretaker minister Shafiullah Khan on August 8, says the notice. According to Para 16 of the code of conduct for the election, a person holding a public office in connection with an election campaign cannot campaign for a candidate or announce or inaugurate any development scheme.
