Gujjar Nullah implementation case: SC issues notice to Murad Ali Shah

KARACHI
Supreme Court (SC) Karachi registry has issued notice to chief minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah on contempt of court petition in Gujjar Nullah implementation case.
The contempt of court petition against Murad Ali Shah on non payment of compensation to the affectees of Gujjar Nullah and other nullahs came up for hearing before SC Karachi registry Wednesday.
Faisal Siddiqui advocate for the petitioner told the court that the court ordered for rehabilitation of the affectees.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar inquired why contempt of court plea has been filed so late.
The counsel for petitioner told the court the petition has been filed 2 years late. The court had given time for two years, therefore the petition has been filed two years late. The rehabilitation work for not a single affectee has been done so far.
The counsel for petitioner said court had ordered Sindh government to file monthly report in this regard.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar inquired did Sindh government file monthly report. Now situation has changed. Care taker chief minister has come. The time already given has expired. This matter has become serious.
The counsel for petitioner told that only two cheques have been given to the affectees and nothing more than this has been given.
The court remarked those are facing difficulties from whom the homes have been got vacated. What we will do by sending the chief minister to jail. We want implementation and you too. We too issue order to such people from whom we could get some thing.
The court maintained Murad Ali Shah can say tomorrow he remains no more chief minister. He can say during his tenure he tried his best but it could not be implemented.
We will seek reply from respective respondents when care taker government comes.
The court while issuing notice to chief secretary Sindh and commissioner Karachi summoned them on Thursday.
The court summoned advocate general Sindh and adjourned the hearing of the case till Thursday..
