Only two dams country wastes $10 billion worth water

ISLAMABAD: Due to the presence of only two dams in the country, water worth 10 billion dollars has been wasted in the country. According to sources of water resources, since April 1 this year, 1 crore 32 lakh acre feet of water has been carried to the sea. The total capacity of water storage in the country is 1 crore 33 lakh acre feet, still the total inflow of water in the rivers is 1 lakh 88 thousand cusecs, 93 thousand cusecs of water is being carried to the sea from Kotri Barrage. Up to 1.4 million acre feet of water is likely to be lost in the sea by October 1. From October 1 to April 1, 2024, the provinces will face water shortfall in Rabi season. In the Rabi season, there is a possibility of 15% water shortfall in the province of Punjab and Sindh.
