The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority’s (FS&HFA) large-scale operations against adulteration mafia here on Friday.
Food safety teams are continuing raids in Peshawar under a special campaign, a spokesman of the Food Authority said. Food Safety teams raided Ashraf Road, Hayatabad Industrial Estate, blockaded Peshawar Toll Plaza and a grand operation, the spokesman of the Food Authority informed.
Production units of Islam Bakers in Industrial Estate have been fined by the Food Authority for violating hygiene norms and not having medical certificates of workers.
More than 300 cartons of fake miss branded smart choice juice were seized from Ashraf Road, the official said.
Food safety team set up a check-point at Peshawar toll plaza, inspecting vehicles of edible goods coming from down country to provincial capital, the spokesman of the Food Authority said. A total of 80 liters of non-standard and harmful to health milk and 15 kg of dates were recovered, seized and destroyed, the official said. Heavy fines have also been imposed on the export of adulterated food items and the adulteration mafia does not deserve any concession, Director General Food Authority Shahrukh Ali Khan told media men during his visit.
Citizens should also play a role to root out adulteration and inform the Food Authority authorities about such elements, Shahrukh Ali Khan said.
