Another first-of-its-kind successful operation held in PIC

For the first time in Pakistan, a new device technology has been introduced to protect heart disease patients from stroke, a spokeswoman of the Pakistan Institute of Cardiology Iffat told media men.
A joint effort by the cardiologist team of Peshawar Institute and the cardiologist from the UK. A successful procedure was performed by implanting a device in the heart of a 71-year-old female heart patient at PIC.
To do such a case and see such a set-up in a government hospital in Pakistan is surprising to me, said the British doctor who performed the operation, Professor David Hildick Smith.

Heart disease patients are given blood thinners, which increases the risk of bleeding in various sensitive parts of the body, Dr. Waleed said.

The successful case of the device is the result of tireless work and efforts of our doctors and management, Medical Director and Chief Executive Professor Dr. Shahkar Ahmad Shah, she said.

PIC will be made according to international standards so that the patients of the province and the whole of Pakistan do not have to go outside, Professor Shahkar Ahmed Shah said.
