CHITRAL
Under the auspices of the Central Asia Health System Strengthening Initiative (CASI) project of Aga Khan Health Service Chitral, a day-long adult camp was organized in Buzand Torkho on the problems of children entering puberty, malnutrition, carelessness in food during pregnancy and mother care program.
Addressing the participants of the adult camp, Manager CASI Project of AKHSP Nigar Ali, Field Health Officer Ashfaq Ahmed said that during puberty, children face many physical and emotional changes and their mood can change repeatedly, depression, mental anxiety, lack of self-esteem, aggressive behavior, body Inferior sensitivity etc. may be encountered while nail acne is also common.
Parents should talk to the children during this process to reduce the feelings of mental anxiety or shame. They said that mothers in backward and remote areas are giving birth to children but with no mother care program. The mortality rate is quite high, they said, adding, “Those survive, among them a large number, are too weak to transmit the required strength to the child.”
The Aga Khan Health Service Chitral Nutrition Program has been started to eliminate malnutrition in Chitral and reduce the mortality rate of malnourished children, where children from remote areas will be examined and diagnosed and all kinds of facilities will be provided to them, Nigar Ali said.
He said that nutritional stunting is a type in which the child is short for age. Such children have less mental and physical development than a normal child, as a result of which the child lags behind in studies as well as other activities. This kind of training program is very important to deal with this serious situation, he concluded.
