The University of Agriculture Peshawar (UAP) in collaboration with Malik Abdul Rauf Foundation organized a one-day “Awareness Campaign Against Addiction” seminar.
The Vice Chancellor (VC) of the university Prof Dr Jahan Bakht attended the event as chief guest. The seminar was attended by the faculty members, administrative officers and students.
Anti-drug awareness seminar was addressed by VC Dr Jahan Bakht, Registrar Dr Rizwan Ahmed, Chairman Malik Abdul Rauf Foundation Malik Abdul Rauf Awan, Dr Anwar Ali Shad and representative of Narcotics Control Wing KP Khalid Khan.
Dr Jahan Bakht while addressing the participants said that the awareness campaign against drugs is the need of the hour, the drug epidemic is spreading very fast, there is a danger that the number of drug addicts will increase many times in the near future.
People resort to drugs to get temporary relief from stress and other ailments that lead them to destruction and addiction for life, he added and said that the youngsters are seen openly taking various drugs.
He said that people who love the country and the nation should play their role in identifying such people and bringing them on the right path.
The most important thing is to start a public awareness campaign about addiction from the physical health, moral and Islamic point of view, otherwise the youth of the nation will continue to suffer from the monster of drugs.
Dr Jahan Bakht also assured cooperation to Malik Abdul Rauf Foundation.
Students also asked Malik Abdul Rauf Awan various questions regarding drug prevention.
Finally, VC Agriculture University of Peshawar along with Registrar Dr Rizwan Ahmed, Malik Tariq Awan and Malik Abdul Rauf Awan distributed the shields.
