Sewerage treatment plant at a cost of 8.5 billion rupees is in progress for six UCs of Mardan city

A delegation of Asian Development Bank (ADB) Mission, led by Engineer Nasir Ghafoor Khan visited water and sanitation services company Mardan (WSSCM) and Cities Implementation Unit (CIU) Mardan. During the visit they reviewed the ongoing development projects under Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project (KPCIP).
General Manager and Chief Engineer Cities Implementation Unit (CIU) Mardan Engineer Muhammad Khalil Akbar briefed the delegates and stated that under Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project (KPCIP) a modern sewerage treatment plant (STP) will be constructed in Mardan.
The sewerage treatment plant has been framed for the efficient management of waste water and will cater the issues related to waste water management and sewerage.
He told through the sewerage treatment plant (STP) project the domestic sewerage connections of six urban union councils will be connected with STP for treatment and reuse for irrigation purpose. The construction work on Eighty two kilometers sewerage network is in progress and will complete in the specified time. Four thousand and three hundred manholes and thirteen thousand sewerage connections will be constructed.
Engineer Nasir Ghafoor from ADB Mission shown satisfaction over the ongoing development projects, and urged that the projects should be completed in specified time.
He said that the provincial government is trying to improve the living standards of the citizens. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project has been launched in five cities of the province with the aim to provide improved sanitation services to the citizens.
ADB Project Coordinator Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salman Ishfaq, Muhammad Rehan, Muhammad Arsalan from ADB along with other specialists, Director Compliance Project Management Unit (KPCIP) Ameer Alam Khan, and representatives of Project Management And Construction Supervision Consultant staff, CEC staff, Consultants and other also attended the meeting.
