An Accountability court in Lahore on Monday declared former federal minister and PTI leader Moonis Elahi as a proclaimed offender in a case related to corruption in development projects.
Aaccepting plea of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Judge of the Accountability Court Naseem Ahmed Vark declared Moonis Elahi as a proclaimed offender in a case pertaining to allegedly receiving kickbacks of more than Rs1 billion in the development projects of Gujarat.
The court also issued perpetual arrest warrants for the former minister. The NAB apprised the court that Moonis Elahi chose not to appear despite an advertisement was published regarding his court summons. The NAB submitted a report about Moonis’ hiding. It said that the former minister had gone into hiding to avoid arrest, requesting the court to declare him absconder. The watchdog further contended that the NAB chairman had issued arrest warrants for Moonis on August 11. The court directed the NAB investigation officer to submit a detailed report related to the movable and immovable property of Moonis Elahi within 15 days.
The court started the seizure of Moonis’ properties under Section 88 CrPC. TLTP
