Muhammad Faiq Shah, founder and chairman of the Amun Taraqqi Party asserted institutional reforms are vital for promotion of ‘good governance’, sustainable economic growth and progress.
Shah while chairing a meeting here at the party’s central office on Saturday noted interests of big white elephants and elites have eaten the country.
He said all previous governments had deviated from their pre-election commitments and they were not held accountable for corruption, performance and results.
The ATP chairman emphasized serious steps for restructuring and revamping of the national institutions. He said state institutions were used for only personal interests and political survival.
Commenting on the PM’s statement that the government is focusing on privatization, especially PIA, Shah said timely steps were not taken to safe important institutions from destruction, especially the national flag carrier, PIA and Pakistan Steel Mill (PSM) and others.
The party head stressed it is essential to bring reforms in PIA and PSM.
However, he observed political governments didn’t make attempts for such initiatives as they were incapable of making decisions.Faiq called for immediate formation of a joint board, which could take major decisions and avail desirable objectives and results.
The ATP chief reiterated his firm resolve that his party will fully cooperate and assist at every level. Every step which is better for Pakistan will be supported at every level, he concluded. Faiq strongly opposed the formation of a national government as former president Asif Zardari in an interview indicated such a form of set up after the election.
He said institutions should play a role in public authority.
The party leader asserted that the manifesto, roadmap and economic stability should be made important for which the Election Commission should come forward and work for stabilizing the democratic system and move ahead as per public justice.
