KP-CM orders full restoration of Marwat canal

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (retd) Syed Arshad Hussain Shah has directed the concerned authorities to take pragmatic measures to make the Marwat Canal system operational at full capacity.
He issued these directives while talking to a delegation of Marwat elders, which called on him at the Chief Minister’s House on Friday, according to a statement.
Chief Minister Syed Arshad Hussain Shah on this occasion said that issues related to water supply for agriculture would be solved on priority basis and directed concerned officials to complete repairing in the Baran Dam within two weeks.
The meeting also discussed water supply issues and overall conditions of the Baran dam project, Marwat canal system and Kachkot canal in the southern region of the province.
Secretary irrigation KP and other high-ups of the relevant departments were also present on the occasion.
Syed Arshad Hussain Shah said that the provincial government would ensure availability of funds required for the early completion of the remaining repair work on Baran Dam.
The staff responsible for the security of the canal should be made duty-bound, the Chief Minister directed and said immediate action should be taken against those who illegally cut or damage the canal.
For this purpose, immediate instructions should be issued to the concerned RPO and Commissioner and cases should be registered against the elements causing damage to the canal, Caretaker Chief Minister ordered.
He said that no one can be allowed to damage public property, Arshad Hussain said and assured the members of the delegation that water supply and other important issues in the district would be solved on priority.
Caretaker Chief Minister KP said that the provincial government is taking all possible steps to develop all districts of the province and no one would be allowed to disrupt the developmental agenda of the government.
