PESHAWAR
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Haji Ghulam Ali visited Peshawar Press Club on Saturday and congratulated the newly elected cabinet.
Governor Ghulam Ali said that democracy is a system in which everyone has the right to their own opinion.
He said that a senator had recently expressed concerns about the security situation in the province, but said that the decision of holding of elections or not up to the Election Commission of Pakistan.
The Governor said that elections are necessary, but that the security situation is a concern.
He called on the federal government and other relevant agencies to work together to create a safe environment for the elections.
He further said that the cold weather has also affected the election process.
He said that it is important to provide a safe environment for both voters and candidates. He said that the demand for a delay in the elections is coming from those who want to participate in the process.
The Governor said that it is his wish that the elections be held peacefully. He said that a democratically elected government should now come into power and start working.
