The apparent target of arrested terrorists was Aimal Wali Khan and Maulana Fazalur Rehman, says CTDPESHAWAR: The Counter Terrorism Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday claimed to have arrested two terrorists of the banned organization Islamic State of Khorasan (ISKP), known as Daesh, from Peshawar.
According to a press release issued by CTD Peshawar that the arrested terrorists were planning to target the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Fazlur Rahman and Awami National Party (ANP) leader Aimal Wali Khan.
The statement furthered that CTD has also recovered two suicide jackets, two hand grenades, three 9mm pistols, two smart phones and some pages of Al-Azaim magazine from a location pointed out by the arrested terrorists.
CTD said that the arrested persons have been identified as Adil alias Ameen son of Shireenzada resident of Peshawar and Tahir Khan alias Abbas son of Malik Khan resident of Landikotal tehsil of tribal district Khyber.
It revealed that the suicide bombers arrested by the CTD Peshawar have allegedly took their training from the Paktia province of Afghanistan. They were tasked to carry out suicide attacks on the prominent political figure of Pakistan, especially ANP and JUI-F senior leadership, said CTD presser.
However, the SWAT team during an important operation conducted on the basis of credible sources apprehended the two terrorists and foiled their planned attacks on the political leaders of the country.
CTD officials have said that the arrested terrorists during the initial investigation admitted their planning about attacking the aforementioned leaders.
Startling revelations are expected from the arrested terrorists of the banned organization during the CTD interrogation.
