PESHAWAR: Dean, Khyber Medical College (KMC) Prof. Dr. Mahmud Aurangzeb who is also the Council Member of the PMDC has welcomed the decision of the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to enhance seats at medical and dental colleges. He also welcomed the enhancement of seats at nursing and paramedical institutions and said this initiative has to be coupled with extra financial assistance to these institutions. He was of the view that every year thousands of students from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reluctantly proceed to China and the Central Asian Republics for medical education by paying exorbitant fees with sub-optimal education. Subsequently, he said they face tremendous difficulties in passing the National Registration Exam (NRE) and finding house job positions.
He stressed that we have an obligation to accommodate as many of these students at our medical institutions as possible. He pledged to support the cause at the level of the PMDC.
