Capital City Police have devised a comprehensive security plan to ensure smooth proceedings of the forthcoming general elections next month.
According to a statement issued here stated that more than 12,000 police force will be engaged for the security of 1280 polling stations established in the provincial capital.
According to the plan, along with policemen, Border Constabulary men will also be deployed in more than 500 most sensitive polling stations, similarly sensitive polling stations will also be monitored through CCTV cameras.
Ababil Squad, City Patrolling, QRF Mobiles, BDS Unit and Sniffer dogs teams will deployed for the assistance of police force in Peshawar on polling day, it added.
It is pertinent to mention that there are a total of 1280 polling stations in Peshawar of which 150 are normal, 630 sensitive and more than 500 highly sensitive polling stations.
Similarly, Ababil Squad and City Patrol Force established to control street crimes in the city have also been given special responsibilities and tasks regarding the general elections. Along with CCTV cameras, surveillance will also be done through drone cameras, as per the plan, by identifying hot spots and special blockades at the entrances and exits of the city, mobile and raider squad patrols in the inner city and suburbs.
Surveillance through drone cameras and body cameras has also been considered in the polling stations across the district which has been declared as security sensitive, while special responsibilities have been assigned to Quick Response Commandos to deal with any emergency situation.
CCPO Syed Ashfaq Anwar, while giving special instructions to the police officers and personnel, said that no unrelated person should be allowed to enter the polling stations, while the process of queuing up and searching the voters should be ensured in every case.
He has also directed the police to avoid using mobile phones while on duty, to show impartiality and to show restraint while on duty.
CCPO Peshawar has also appealed to all the citizens to cooperate with the police and other security forces to prove that they are peaceful citizens.
