District Police Officer(DPO) Salim Abbas Kulachi has said that Khyber police investigated a numbers of suspects so far but they could not reached to any tangible clue to reach to the killers of journalist Khalil Jibran Afridi.
District police officer Salim Abbas Kulachi in media talks tol reporters at Shakas police line in Khyber that that the investigation team had so far investigated 14 suspects but could find any clue to reach to the hands behind the Khalil Jibran’s murder. He said they were yet to reach a conclusion about the actual identity of the assailants.
“The issue is of a grave nature and the police are working in close coordination with other law enforcement agencies in order to make a breakthrough,” he said.
He expressed his optimism about finding a clue to the identity of the armed attackers as the police had increased patrolling of the area where Jibran was assassinated on June 18.He said another suspect had to be investigated in the case who could help them find the killers.
The police officer in uncleared words hinted that if they could find any clue after investigating the last suspect the journalist murder case might be closed.
Kulachi said that increased police patrolling had helped alleviate fear among the common people and enhanced their trust on the police.
DPO Kulachi also talked about threatening letters issued to some policemen, local elders and at least four journalists and insisted that he could not verify the authenticity of the letters issued by comparatively new militant groups, Lashkari Al-Jihad and Ghazwaul Hind.He however said they could not ignore the threats letters issued to journalists and other citizens in district Khyber.
Meanwhile, militants issued another warning letter in which they shared names of journalists, elders and police who were at their target list. The message has been circulated in social media groups to journalists and other citizens to take steps foe their protection.
