Awami National Party (ANP) Mardan chapter has summoned an all party conference on 16th August over the issue of provincial government decision of selling the universities lands.
Addressing to a news conference at Mardan press club ANP district presidents Manduri, District General Secretary Fazl-ur- Rehman Bin Yameen, former president Farooq Khan, provincial finance secretary Haroon Khan, Haji Abdul Aziz Khan, Malik Ilyas, Haji Sabz Ali and other office bearers said that the ANP has gone beyond politics to fight against the government’s decision on university lands.
They added that on this issue, they held meetings with political parties, bar associations, business organizations and the media in the form of jirga and informed them about the public concern and all the parties were requested to take a stand on this issue.
They thanked all the political parties, lawyers, businessmen and civil society of Mardan and said that an all-party conference has been called at Sheikh Maltoon Executive Club on August 16 at 3 pm to take a stand on the university land issue and decide the future course of action.
They said that all the political parties have been formally invited to participate in the APC and Former Chief Minister Amir Haider Hoti will host the conference. They said that the PTI leaders have not responded to our contacts so far, but we will send invitations to all the office bearers and members of the provincial and national assemblies of PTI. Addressing the leadership of PTI, he said that they should sit together with all the political parties on this important issue of Mardan so that a plan of action can be decided unanimously. They argued that Selling of universities land will not be allowed. Answering a question about that billions of rupees of land owners are still due to the government and the high judiciary directed the provincial government to pay money to the land owners they said that the chief minister has announced that he will release billions of rupees funds to the members of provincial assembly. They argued that the chief minister should pay money to the land owners instead of giving to the members of the provincial assembly.
