Over Rs 250m estimated for lighting at Takhtbhai archeological site

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would spend an amount of over Rs 250 million on installation of artificial lights at the archeological site of Takhtbhai in Mardam district. According to a document of the Tourism and Archeological Department KP on Thursday the earlier cost of artificial lights at the site was estimated at Rs 50.8 million however, due to the new design of consultant and to installation of European standard and durable lights, the cost has now jumped to estimated Rs 250.8 million.
The document said under the KITE project, initiated with the assistance of the World Bank, these projects of archeological sites have also been included in the project. A difference of around 345 percent was recorded between the initial and amended evaluation of the cost estimation.
The document further said that the department cannot accord approval to the project with such a hefty cost and now its approval will be obtained from the Chief Minister office. The summery for approval of the project will be sent by the Department of Tourism and Archology, the document added.
