Administration, Youth affairs hold Mushaira in Landi Kotal

Administration in collaboration with the Youth Affairs department organized a Mushaira(poetry reciting) held at Hamza Baba cultural complex, Landi Kotal on Thursday evening.
Assistant Commissioner, Landi Kotal Adnan Mumtaz who was the chief guest on the occasion said that the administration was making every possible effort to initiate such kinds of literary programs for the promotion of art and literature to promote Pashto language and culture.
Paying tribute to the Pashto Bab-e-Ghazal, Amir Hamza Khan Shinwari he said that Hamza Baba was a great poet, writer and a sufi who wrote almost 40 books both in Pashto and Urdu.
People would continue to benefit from the thoughts and inspiring poetry of the poet and his services for the promotion of Pashto language will be remembered for centuries, he added.
He pledged that more literary gatherings would be organized in the memories of prominent literary figures of the area besides problems being faced by the locals’ poets and writers would be addressed on priority.
Youth Affairs Officer Sajid Ali Afridi in addition with a large number of poetry lovers were among the participants.
The prominent poets including Prof.Tawab Masroor, Dr Kaleem Shinwari, Abdul Ghafoor Afridi, Sajjad Shinwari, Kohat Khan Zakir, Nisar Afghar, Sameen Pathang and others recited their pieces of poetry that received encouragement and amused the participants.
The participants appreciated the administration for initiating the Mushaira and said it would certainly boost literary activities in the area in addition to delivering a positive and a message of peace to the world.
At the end the chief guest distributed shields among the poets.
