KHYBER AGENCY: The anti- polio drive is successfully in progress in all three tehsils i.e, Landi Kotal, Jamrud and Bara of Khyber Agency, the official of health department said on Wednesday.
Sharing details regarding the campaign, Agency Surgeon Dr, Niaz Afridi said that the current campaign is taking place through out Khyber agency including far-flung areas of Tirah Valley.
He further said that for the purpose, 731 mobile, 18 transit and 50 fixed teams have been specialized to visit door to door and to administer polio drops to 223237 children below five years.The polio eradication drive will continue for seven days through out Khyber Agency to achieve the target however under the support of UNICEF,Community Base Vaccination(CBV) programme,the activity will continue for a month,he maintained.
Replaying to a query he said, areas of Rajgal,Serai,Wacha Vela,Kachkool etc. have been exempted in the on-going anti-polio drive as the area has been vacated due to Khyber 3 operation.
Agency Surgeon sought cooperation of tribesmen, journalists, religious communities and the political administration that will make possible for them to get their target. “It is the duty of every citizen to motivate the parents of children below five years to feed polio vaccine to their kids, so that to get rid of the crippling disease, polio ”.
Earlier,fool proof security arrangements have been initiated and contingents of Khasadar and Levies troops have been deployed with the polio teams to foil any untoward incident, administration official said.
So far no polio case has been detected and Khyber Agency is remained polio free in 2016,health sources informed.
