Commissioner Mardan Muhammad Javed Marwat has said that journalists have an important position in the society who point out the flaws, deficiencies and shortcomings in the society. He expressed these while addressing meet the press program at Mardan press club.
Press club president Muhammad Bashir Adil and General Secretary Akhunzada Fazl-e-Haq welcomed the commissioner on his visit to the press club. Muhammad Javed Marwat said that He said that the region of Mardan is fertile and populous.
He said that necessary steps are being taken to solve the problems of the people of Mardan. He said that action against illegal encroachments is in the interest of the people. Commissioner added that poverty is there but there should be strategies to eradicate poverty. He added that carriages and other encroachments have marred the city. He argued that encroachments have become a culture and this thinking needs to change.
He added that the administration will also have its weaknesses but we should adopt a culture of dialogue to solve these issues. In response to a question, Javed Marwat said that there is no shortage of resources, but the problems are not being solved due to misuse of resources. He added that due to mismanagement, machinery is lying idle in some hospitals for which the hospital administration has been given a week’s time.
He added that there is no treatment facility in the government hospital of hundreds of kanals and the private hospital of 10 marlas take care of people. He added that raiding culture is not a solution, there is a need to develop a culture of sense of responsibility.
He added that journalists will identify the problems and solve the problems of the citizens of Mardan together.
Commissioner added that the increasing number of Ching Chi and Tezraftaar rickshaws are causing traffic problems. He added that police and the excise department are working to regularize them while action is being taken against illegal housing societies on agricultural land.
