Peshawar: Naseem Ahmed Ph.D. Research Scholar, National Center of Excellence in Geology, University of Peshawar has successfully defended his doctoral thesis. The title of the thesis was “Landslide Monitoring, Hazard and Hazard Assessment Using Space and Airborne Remote Sensing: A Case Study of Kaghan Valley, Pakistan.” Mr. Naseem Ahmed completed his research under the supervision of Associate Professor, Dr. Muhammad Shafiq, National Center of Excellence in Geology, University of Peshawar. The examination panel for this special PhD thesis included Dr. Javed Iqbal, Associate Professor, Department of Earth Sciences, University of Haripur, Dr. Ehsanullah, Associate Professor, Department of Geography and Geomatics, University of Peshawar. The thesis has been reviewed by two external professors including Dr. Khamr Al-Azhari from Malaysia and Dr. Li Yu from China, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Naseem Ahmed has also published two Research Papers from his PhD research thesis. This unique achievement demonstrates Dr. Naseem Ahmed’s exceptional research skills, dedication, and expertise in GIS and Remote Sensing.
His research has important implications for landslide risk assessment and mitigation strategies in Pakistan.
