Residents said police failed to implement court order to end land dispute

LANDIKOTAL: Sheikhmalkhel residents on Wednesday said that the escalating tensions surrounding their longstanding land dispute with rival party could spark blood shed among them if police failed to implement court order. Speaking at press conference at Landikotal press club Haji Karamat Ali Shinwari and Sohail Shinwari said that the court has decided in their favour but their opponent Asghar Khan and his family were violating the court verdict. They said a series of legal battles and confrontations that have unfolded since a court ruling in their favor in 2016. Haji Karamat said that Asghar Khan challenged this decision first with the at commissioner court and then with the Fata tribunal but both upheld the original court ruling. They said court directed assistant commissioner of Landikotal to implement the decision but still the authories failed to implement the court orders. Kiramat said two days ago officials including tehsildar Taimur Afridi made an effort to implement the court’s decision but they faced the hostility from the opposing party. He said the situation escalated when gunfire was erupted at the officials and jirga members after the verbal assaults by their opponent Asghar Khan.He added that despite the aggression, the officials tactically defused the tension in accordance with tribal customs.
