PESHAWAR: Shaukat Yousafzai, a former provincial minister, has publicly criticized the leadership of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party for their decision to boycott the Parliamentary Committee responsible for appointing the Chief Justice of Pakistan. In comments shared within a PTI WhatsApp group, Yousafzai expressed his discontent with the boycott, stating that it was not a correct move. According to sources, the PTI leader and former minister urged party leaders to reconsider their stance on Justice Yahya Afridi, advocating for support rather than opposition. During a discussion on a private television channel, Yousafzai elaborated on his views, questioning the rationale behind the party’s decision to engage in discussions about constitutional amendments with the federal government while simultaneously boycotting the committee meeting. The sources said that ex-provincial minister and senior leader of PTI highlighted Justice Yahya Afridi’s reputation for integrity, suggesting that opposing him would only complicate matters for PTI.
