PESHAWAR: Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mehsud has called for the finalization of an administrative and security plan in preparation for the upcoming national anti-polio campaign, scheduled to run from October 28 to November 3. According to an official handout, the directive was issued during a divisional task force meeting focused on ensuring the campaign’s success across the Peshawar Division. Commissioner Mehsud emphasized the importance of accountability, stating that a system of rewards and punishments would be implemented to ensure high performance among officials involved in the campaign. “Incentives, promotions, and honors will be awarded for good performance, while severe penalties, including potential job loss for negligence, will be enforced for poor performance,” he declared. The meeting included participation from Deputy Commissioners, District Police Officers, District Health Officers, Revenue Officers, Municipal Officers, and other administrative officials from Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Tribal District Mohmand, and District Khyber. Each Deputy Commissioner provided detailed reports on the previous polio campaigns in their districts and discussed strategies for the upcoming initiative. Commissioner Mehsud announced that he would directly oversee the campaign, highlighting the need for enhanced security measures for polio workers. He reiterated that critical decisions had been made to protect the health workers engaged in the vaccination efforts, underscoring the provincial government’s commitment to eradicating polio.
