An unfortunate fire incident occurred at an industrial unit in the Peshawar Economic Zone, despite all necessary fire control measures being in place within the facility.
The fire, which began early noon on Saturday, was quickly responded to by the Economic Zone’s internal Rescue Team which has two Fire extinguisher engines and ambulances. The firefighting teams and Rescue 1122 arrived on-site within minutes.
KPEZDMC teams were on the ground from the outset, coordinating efforts alongside the local government. Full support was being extended from the Commissioners Officer, Civil Defence and the Firefighting teams from both Peshawar and Khyber Districts. Emergency response teams worked tirelessly to prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring units.
The teams also took measures to sensitize neighbouring industries to remove any chemicals and flammable materials that could have escalated the situation, or could have caused the spread of fire.
Upon the direction of Chief Minister, to quarantine this fire at the earliest, around 40 fire engines and emergency vehicles, succeeded in restricting the spread, which otherwise would had caused multiple losses.Pakistan Airforce Fire Engines also joined to use Petroleum extinguishing foams on the fire that continued due to chemicals being on fire.
No casualties have been reported, while all teams worked closely with all the relevant authorities to control the fire and successfully extinguish it.
SACM Mr. Abdul Karim Tordher also visited the site where he acknowledged and appreciated the courage and bravery shown by all the relief agencies and their staff for putting up their best and succeeding in restraining the fire and avoiding any human loss.
