Deputy Commissioner Mardan Dr. Azmatullah Wazir has said that the media is the fourth pillar of the state. It is the eyes and ears of the government and the administration. The media should identify the problems. We will find solutions together. He was talking to journalists during a visit to the Mardan Press Club along with DPO Mardan Zahoor Babar Afridi and ADC Finance Fahad Iftikhar. Press Club President Bashir Adil and General Secretary Fazal Haq Akhunzada along with the club’s cabinet and members welcomed the Deputy Commissioner. The Deputy Commissioner said that Mardan is the second largest district of the province and has political and economic importance. After taking charge, he got acquainted with local issues.
L“I have the courage to bear criticism. You bring up the problems and administration will take all necessary steps to solve them”,he added. He informed thay a systematic campaign against illegal encroachments will be launched, but before that, we are identifying the encroachments. He said that a special cleanliness campaign is going on through WSCC and TMAs in the District. Similarly, action is also being taken against substandard Gur, adulterated milk and fake doctors. Traffic is also a serious issue, which will be solved on a permanent basis in collaboration with the police and excise. A crackdown is underway against drugs, especially ice, under the leadership of DPO Zahoor Babar Afridi.
He assured that problems faced by journalists will also be solved on priority basis adding Mardan journalists have a positive mindset which is encouraging.
We will take Mardan on the path of development together making Mardan a model district. He said that temporarily registeration of rickshaws will soon be started at the police station level.
Dr Azmat further informed we are working on making the slaughterhouse functional and shifting the bus stand, which will reduce the traffic problem to a great extent.
Action will be taken against illegal housing societies and illegal profiteering and hoarding, while cheap markets will be established. On this occasion, shields were presented to the Deputy Commissioner and DPO by the club officials.
