The Khyber Union of Journalists (KhUJ) and Peshawar Press Club (PPC) have strongly condemned the attack on a media house in Islamabad by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers and activists and demanded the immediate arrest of those involved.
In a joint statement, KhUJ President Kashifuddin Syed, PPC President Arshad Aziz Malik have expressed outrage over the continued assaults on journalists and media institutions by PTI workers.
They described the vandalism of a media office in Islamabad and the injury of News North Director Muhammad Adil as “hooliganism” and a direct assault on press freedom.
The leaders criticized PTI workers for torturing journalists on duty and holding them hostage, labeling it a shameful act for any political party.
The journalist community representatives called on the PTI leadership to immediately rein in its workers and prevent further violence against journalists.
They warned that failure to address these incidents would leave journalists with no option but to organize nationwide protests, including demonstrations in KP.
